So changing the logbook to try and cover a plot hole that was in the Original release means that they'd needlessly change things again for a port? Yeah, that makes so much sense.

The only significant change is the control scheme, they wouldn't rewrite the whole damn game for a port. Stop being dumb.
they need to prevent people from sequence breaking the storyline.

No.  Sequence breaking the storyline is one of the best parts of sequence breaking.  That's why a SB-able Fusion would be fun...if the MF engine was built for it. laugh new

The Metroid Fusion engine was designed itself to prevent sequence breaking.  Items could only be obtained with the correct event.  Data rooms shut down without Adam.

Thanks for the info!  Some good questions came up at MdB.  Do the helmet lights at the top reflect remaining battery power like with Corruption?  Does grapple just work with Z and not require shaking the nunchuck?  Did you figure out how to get the hand on the gun (which might simulate the effects of R)?

That door being unlocked seems to confirm that each region is getting its last released version Wii-ified.  It was only locked in NA PC (unlock it for us please Retro!).

Is it known whether environmental damage rate depends on difficulty setting in Prime?  3VMR might be more easily doable in Normal mode.

Do you have a pic/video of the conversion credits?  Don't worry about it if you don't.  A_P_N might be in there.  We might be able to tell how much work was done outside Retro, and if artists are listed we'll know that rooms were further worked on.

grapple works like in the original mp1. no shaking. in fact, there wasn't any kind of shaking outside the spring ball.
the hand on the cannon seems to come up when you look around only.
i haven't played since friday so i don't know about the enviormental damage (but i noticed the old glitch in the warning sign in the lava room in chozo ruins is still there)

btw ark, some menus are readable if you know katakana (i have a sheet that shows what each character means). just because they're japanese it doesn't mean every piece of text is impossible to read for non-japanese speakers. kanji is a whole different beast and i never tried to assume what it meant but the katakana text is prefectly readable in "engrish" if you know each symbol. it's not nice my first post was mutilated because of that. for example, those symbols before the 89% in the fusion suit pic  read "scan" once you look up each of them and put them together. meanwhile, i have no idea what is written under the B, 2 and A buttons.

Shame on "fire cave" and "ice canyan".... horrible names.. hope fully it remain the same in the NA version.

so you unlock fusion samus with 100%?:) scan or item collect?

I tried about 6 hours the old sjf... failed (never succesed it in gc version too).

must be items because i didn't get 100% scans.

OK, I've had enough of reading about "backups" in this topic. I doubt anyone who's posted in this thread claiming to have the game has done the decent thing by actually paying for it.

Any further posts I see that have even the slightest whiff of piracy about them will be deleted on sight. I will not be sucked into a debate over what does and doesn't constitute talk about piracy -- any post like that will also be destroyed on sight.

The only legitimate talk about soft and hard modifications that I would be prepared to tolerate in this topic would be discussion related to getting genuine imported copies of this game to run on US and EU machines. However, since I have already seen several pieces of incorrect information about the Wii's hardware in this topic, it's pretty clear that this site is not the right place to look for data about that, either. If you want to know about how the Wii actually works, I can heartily recommend reading bushing, segher, marcan et al's amazing blog, or the wiki they have thoughtfully provided. If you want to talk about imports or piracy, you'll have to look elsewhere. No exceptions.

hm, sorry for that.
but, can we still talk about the game or only people with proof of purchase are allowed?

Holy shit, settle down, I was talking about the changes they made in the GC version. Anyways, why not check for differences anyways?
Your custom title is very... probably not written by you?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
You're searching for pointless differences where you have almost zero chance of finding them, wait for the US release if you really want to see if they altered anything. Unless you've read all the text in the original Japanese release you probably won't know if anything's actually been changed in the first place.
That's just silly.

You can talk about the game, that's fine. I'm not about to enforce some stupid NeoGAF-style policy like "you have to take a photo of yourself holding the game box" or anything.

It's possible to argue that many here have bought Retro's games many times over, and don't see why they should have to pay again for what is just another version of something they already own. It's also possible to argue that Nintendo's decision to region-lock their console was unfair and greedy [1], especially since the hardware is identical across regions.

I appreciate these points of view. But open talk about this sort of thing makes both you and the site look bad.

Would it be possible for you to relink the character sheet? I checked on this computer, but it's running something close to IE4. I will look again when I get on my home computer.

I would really enjoy decoding the options menu if possible. :D

i said nothing about japanese speakers. i simply said if you can't read japanese, you won't be able to read that. katakana is a part of japanese. >_>

also, using a sheet that tells you what katakana characters mean doesn't mean you know katakana. :P

So, is [the] Mother Brain "[za] Ma[u ]zaa/Mo[u ]zaa Burein" or is it "Kazaa [word for "brain"]"?
let's get back on topic. feel free to check wikipedia for all your japanese needs.

i just remembered something to get on topic.

in every boss battle, the lock-on targets the same weak spots as in the gc version when you have lock-on free-aim off. they didn't make it like mp3 where you have free aim against bosses always.
also, i remembered OP flinched with just 1 plasma shot so i couldn't use the fast strat. that might be different in veteran.
btw, i'm almost recovered from my trip so i'll be playing on veteran with the fusion suit soon.

edit: i started my new file and all the scan points i had scanned earlier are scanned already, so there will be time saved from fast scanning in further playthroughs on the same file. kinda surprising to see one advantage from this version over the old one.
also, you can leave the fusion suit on forever, unlike the gc version where you had to turn it on each time you booted up the game.

btw, NES metroid seems to be missing from all the unlockables sections. i got the 4 art galleries, fusion suit, screenshot tool and the soundtrack menu which houses 16 songs and i'm missing only 1 gray token needed to unlock one song.

As long as you can ghetto, it'll work:

(may still be processing at the time of this post.  I'll delete it when you're done with it)

i tried the trick and it worked

i can't record a vid right now because i'm using component cables but i followed the vid step by step so there's no real difference. ghetto jumps are virtually intact.

btw, the lights in the upper part of the visor don't change even if your batteries are running out.

when you use grapple beam, are you "blocked" when you land on the ground, as in prime 3?
and could you post a pic of the bonus screen (where you buy things using tokens) thanks
You can still lock your view without an enemy being there right?

from what i've seen and if it is what i think, no. i've been able to walk as soon as i land.

here's the extras menus pics:

this menu is for the fusion suit and screenshot tool

sound menu.

if you mean using Z to make the camera still and aim, yep. if you mean the lock-on, you need an enemy for that. also, scan dashing is dead as in the non-original USA versions.

Actually no, though I do appreciate the inventory translation. I meant the Options/Controls screen and the katakana sheet US was talking about so I can try to change my controls.

I don't want to steal your translation job. I know not a spec of any Asian language. . . so have at it!

EDIT: Simple Google search yielded the basic I was looking for.

EDIT2: What I really need is a menu in English from the GameCube version. Mine is currently at my cousins' house.
