I think I'd be a little upset if Eris had a heat run, as far away from the Sun as it is.  laugh new Besides, I prefer suitless water over heat runs anyway  :P.

As cold as this place is I'm wondering if you could do a cold run instead of a heat run.  Also, I would think some of the slopes would be a bit slippery, although others might disagree on these ideas.  :-)

You know, since Eris is a frozen planet, you could say that areas that require Varia are too COLD to travel in normally.  Think of Fusion.  You could still use the HEAT BIT in the FX1 and just color Samus's heat frames a bluish shade instead of reds.

I think no suit heat change actually looks better in cold areas, at least in my mind. At least, I don't think suit color would change appearance to the naked eye under extreme cold conditions...

Whether or not this means suitless heat will exist at all, I don't really think adding a palette swap to suitless heat will make it "cool".

Well, think about it - it's kind of like the Super Mario World 64, in some of the ice levels - there's a bit of water, in some places, like under the frozen Big Bully, that act like lava, but they just say that it's really cold water. Have the heat bit, but turn the colors to a light blue or something like that. Have the heat palette all be the same, but with a small blueish cast to it.

lol, a cold run is no different from a heat run, it's just different aesthetics.
Besides, I said that this hack is designed to be for any player, and heat runs are generally difficult,
I would also like to add than an easy heat run is no heat run at all.

The difficulty in this has almost everything to do with enemies. I'm putting the scare back into aliens.

It's not easy typing in a halloween mask. I'm off for the night. Happy Halloween!

I have to say that I like the idea of a hack based on a frozen planet.  I'll definitely play this when it comes out.  I'd also like to add that I for one would prefer easy heat runs over hard heat runs.

Agreed. Some things like an extra energy tank go a long way in helping out that kind of stuff, though.

I never said I wanted a heat run either.  I was just saying that you could use the "too cold instead of too heated" idea for if the player wanders into an area with a HEAT BIT/FREEZING BIT by accident.

Also DMantra, your sig just got 100x cooler.

I don't think an easy heated run totally defeats the purpose, since heated rooms in vanilla SM basically told you that you were on the wrong path and you shouldn't go that way just yet.  Going into a heated area without varia is going out on a limb since you have no idea how long it is or if you're going to even come close to making it through.
