You know that's actually a great idea. Though I've already made my Torizo room, and it's only 1x1 so it wouldn't be very practical. And I think Bosses are non-returning so I don't know if two would work. Any damage you do to one might happen to the other one as well :/

Enemies? Aren't the Chozo guys friendly? Eh?

Well yes the Chozo are friendly, but the Archozo aren't. They're something like a mutated race of Chozo. Got the name from being the arch enemy of the chozo. Arch-chozo -> Archozo!

Plus it reminds me of big scary Acheron  laugh new Lol I'm kidding.
Go ahead. Stare.
The ones that attack are called Torizo... archozo indeed. Rolling Eyes

Yes but they aren't supposed to look like chozo.

This is what the archozo look like

EDIT: I couldn't be bothered to cut out the rest of the pic ><

I see the difference now, I thought you were talking about the actual torizo, not your own species of statues.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
I was talking about the Torizo, although I couldn't remember what their name was at the moment... That seems to happen to me a lot.

If you will recall one of Archeron's Signatures...  'Do the Torizo tango' (or something like that)...  He was going to have one room with 2 Torizos in it, but they'd do the same thing -I believe.  When one was facing Left - so would the other one.  One Walks and faces right -the other would too.  So I guess it would be very hard to have a 2nd Torizo act independently / separately from the other one.  Unless it was discussed how to overcome this in the Smile help section or Archies own topic. Confused

In game screenshots from Cathedral.

There's still a few glitches/bugs/something with the big Archozo statue. For some reason the middle top of his wings don't show the tile they're supposed to in that area, but they do everywhere else... So I'm just using a different tile for Cathedral.

Also when I have 2 items with the same index in the same room, picking up one doesn't remove the other as well. I though it would, so I'll have to think of some other way of making you choose.

And those bats are insanely nasty  laugh new

Plasma or spazer?  What a choice...

Probably the best way to do multiple items with the same index is to show the player both of them and have a crumble block prevent them from going back.  You just need to hit a door transition to remove the other one, maybe a door transition to the same room works the same way a regular one works for this I don't know (probably, Hangtime used this for example).  It probably won't look as elegant as your picture though.
or you could do it the same way the creator of super metroid limit did it.
use one door for a high/low entrance and when you leave the room with one power up, you can't g around for the other.
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
You mean like this?

That's a good idea. And If it's not what you meant, I think I'll do this anyway.

. . .
Also... I'm 'pretty sure' (don't quote me on this) that if you use the hidden item blocks instead of the usual item blocks, giving an item the same PLM index would get rid of one of them when you ge the other.  Of course the items would have to be far enough apart from each other to prevent this from happening:

1) shot the block for item one.
2) run over to item 2 and obtain it.
3) run back over to item 1 before it dissapears back into the void of the hidden block!
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
That is a very good idea. Even if it might not work. I could put some kind of obstacle in between the two items, and those who can get from one item to the other get both items. Or better yet, (because it would have to be a rediculous obstacle to stop most people getting both, like a solid wall) i could put something in between that dissapears in a certain event. So if you try to get the spaze or plasma to early, you only get one, but if you wait, you'll get both.  laugh new

I'm making people choose between Spaze and Plasma mainly because they cancel each other out anyway, but because the Spazer is the fast beam (S for speed), and plasma is slow but powerful (P for power). Makes sense.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Could you not have a vertical wall separating them, and crumble blocks above.

That way the player could choose which they want before they collect one, with the other disappearing when one is collected.  The wall would prevent them from getting both, but I'm sure it's not necessary, as if they have the same index (?) don't they disappear at the same time?

I'm sure that's how Drewseph did it in Redesign to ensure that players could have all three Energy Tanks to face Hell's Run with.  i.e. If you'd missed either of the early two, they'd be sitting atop the lift down to Norfair.
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
They don't disappear at the same time. The game requires that the room is reloaded before any chnages take effect, so you'd have to leave the room and go back in for the other to disappear as well.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
OK.

I still think you could use the vertical wall method, as that'd force the player to re-enter the room, as there'd be nothing else to do.  I drew an amazing picture to help describe it. winky

This general idea could also work (I believe it was used for a hack a while back). Tends to work a bit better than the vertical setup.

Yeah, that's what he had already planned.  I was just offering an alternative. Very Happy
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
Wow...
Quietus that is a much better room idea!  grin new And that is an amazing picture.  laugh new

I thought you meant have 2 separate sides to the room with a door on each side and you had to go out to get to the other side. But I like the idea you had.

On a completely unrelated topic that is still related to SMI... I'm trying to make a new boss. I just don't know which boss to overwrite. I thought about SS, but his GFX are too basic - there's no animation except for the middle opening, which I don't want. Right now I'm thinking of going over Phantoon, because the fire and "dissapearing act" would work great with what I've come up with, but again, not much animation (cause the new boss has wings right now). Plus it isn't really big. So I need to take over a rather small boss. Preferably one that is face on (like SS and Phantoon. Kraid and Ridley are looking in a direction).

And my net cut out over the weekend. I just got it back today so I made a few more rooms. And I made the maze a lot bigger and harder. I've been neglecting hacking because I'm trying to get the Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic achievement on GTA IV...

wow, that seems pretty confusing. I like what you're doing but I think that you shoudn't add those statue things. Just a personal opinion, so don't go bruce lee on me.
Interesting, but the Fusion door next to the tube clashes really badly. Also, some people may be confused when you refer to this hack as SMI when people have been using that as shorthand for Impossible a while.

Ha ha!

Sadiztik Fish, you know you want to make people go through all that, and then just put a missile tank at the end, just to poke your tongue out at whoever is playing, but I'm sure it's for something a little more interesting. Wink

Yeah, perhaps you could change that, and use 'SMImp' instead.

Doh! d'oh!
