red chamber dream
So I have to write a riddle over the weekend for my British Literature class. Here's what I came up with:
I am the place behind
The bed that the river runs through,
Yet never do I bathe. Forever
Tethered until one tears me down,
I continue to work, day and night;
Though many of my friends get the day shift.
Passersby may use me as
They wish, so long as I am availible.
Like comfort to weary travelers, I
So sustain those in need if they are
Willing to pay my tab. Constantly
Shifting, I do what is asked of me.
Just trying this out on y'all to see if it's too easy, too hard, etc. I don't want to make one that's too terribly hard, so I hope someone gets this.
I worded the riddle extremely carefully (I'm all about wording), and please don't ask any questions, as I won't answer them.
