Well its time for another one room hack! (Well sort of, theres 4 rooms...) SUPER METROID : RIDLEY'S CHALLENGE (its headered!) A non-linear one room hack that will have you scanning the area for as many items as you can find before fighting Ridley! SKILLS NEEDED: -Mockball -Speedball -Walljump -IBJ -Short Charge (maybe more) ITEMS: 25 in all Will take any comments you have! Please post if you find bugs. ------- It is April 1st... But why would I fake something like this? That would just be cruel! Come on! I'm not Kejardon! Trust me! edit: I have empirical evidence showing that chozo warriors are indeed faster than hedgehogs HONORS: Cpadolf ICheatAtGolf namespoofer

I completed it in 38 minutes by the clock. (probably 2 hours of playing) Very fun hack, some annoying parts though (basically everything in the lava) and some non obvious solutions here and there that annoyed. Also I have no idea of when I broke the hack and when I didn't... it's really non linear and no obvious paths once you are halfway in. I beat ridley with 4 E-tanks, 15 supers 1 missile pack, grapple, X-ray, Charge, Ice, Wave, Plasma, Gravity suit, Springball, Speedbooster, 1 PB pack, Space jump, morphball and bombs. Possibly also something I forgot to mention

Played for like 5 minutes, got stuck. Then I played for like 10 minutes and got stuck again. Now I have given up.

That doesn't sound like you... getting stuck and all : )
Also I got the first super the wrong way I'm quite sure, I was able to pick the one at the first missile pack from outside the wall with a spinjump after I got wavebeam.

Is IBJ absolutely required? I suck at it, so it's always been kind of a dealbreaker for me. Mockball (provided adequate space to do it) and reasonably tricky walljumps are fine.

IBJ - Yes its required! Mockball with adaquent space - is a few tiles adaquent? Eh... probablly not! Walljump - mostly dodging hazards!

Is very short charges necessary? I used that a couple of times but the space was so short that it was just barely possible in realtime.

I would say the latter. That part was designed to be really hard in realtime. Very short charge would only be an extra advantage to know! Not a mandatory move, good timeing is all that is neccessary! edit: Thats not to say that short charge is not needed! Short charge is very neccessary!

darn it, i can't finish it, cuz i can't mockball. =/ from what i HAVE played, this is a pretty solid hack, with lotsa cool moves to pull off. (still, i wish the mockball wasn't required)

I found that the low ceiling made the mock ball easier to preform.

Varia doesn't exist to my knowledge, only gravity. And charge beam... don't remember.

I Completed this hack with the same stats as Cpadolf. Nice, fun, hack, although I think people's definitions of "challenging" are getting harder as time goes on. I had to use quite a bit of save states on this one. With the exception of Ridley. The crumble blocks, to my amazement, made that battle pretty epic I think if you make another hack, you should tone down the difficulty just a bit. I'd say a good 75% of the people here wouldn't complete this hack due to difficulty.

Yeah, the only reason its so hard is because its a one room hack. I myself would rather make easier hacks, with hard challenges for extra items like super missles, etc. With Ridley I wanted to do something no one else has done! I will be using that idea again in the future! edit: If I can beat it, then I guess that I'm getting better after all! Maybe I should take another swing at Impossible...

Do this plz. You'll be able to reach a wider audience. Are you working on a fullhack or a minihack or anything?

I wanted to wait alittle longer to release this but....
I've done a half hack = Rewind a one room hack = Ridley's Challenge planning on a full hack = Pantheon
I'm done with the blueprints and am currently testing all my ideas before any real progress will be made. It'll be awhile before you hear anything concrete.
------- Random SMILE quirk : Setting a rooms FX2 pointer to C124 will make for explosions! A few other ones will work as well such as... E5A0, E57C, E5A4, C120. This is used in the Tourian escape sequence.
