well, i took a break from my "real" hack, and made this boss-rush hack!
the nam "boss" was taken, so i called it rush! laugh new
it's version 0.6 0.65 so i'll update it soon, but i just want'ed to get it up for yall.

here's some things you should know:
this is for a HEADERLESS JU rom
some of the bosses' weaknesses are changed, and more will be later.
phantoon's and crocamire's rooms are edited a little bit; some of the othes will be too Wink
the zebitites are now vulnerable to beams
there aren't hidden iteams(yet aiwebs_008)

Known Gilches:
well, after kraid's room, the graphics get all messed up. just press start.
the evil, EVIL scrolling-background-ship-room glich

And for you speed runners, pm me your time, and if you used save-states or not, and i fyou saved the animals grin new

UPDATE 0.65
i think this is updated, my file got deleated, so i had to go back to an earlyer version. some palette changes, some gliches may be back, new ones might be there too.

Looks like it's another failed boss rush hack. You really should beta test.

I haven't played this hack yet, and judging by the pics,  the graphics problems are due to not returning to the prekraid room after defeating kraid.

Wow, not trying to sound harsh, but you shouldn't even attempt ASM if you don't understand SMILE basics like 00 iin index 2 and such/

I'm trying to learn ASM and such as well, so I was told to learn about SMILE more by making a hack. You learn things by messing around with SMILE, like the Dirt Digger ememy (the one that removes the blocks before spring ball in Maridia) is actually 7 enemies. and then you need to learn some basics, like how to repoint pointers. And you must test everying. If you tested, you would have saw the mess, and mabey asked for some help.

this has no asm what-so-ever.
as for the crash, well, mabey  i'll not make those speed blocks  Rolling Eyes
i played it all the way, and didn't find any thing, mabey it was my computer uploading the ips :-s
well, i'll try and fix it all, and i'll up load it from a diferant computer to be safe Wink
edit: oh i forgot! to fix the gfx, just pause it.

it doesn't matter if this doesn't have ASM. You need to learn how to use SMILE before learning ASM. The crash had nothing to do with Speed Booster blocks. And when you played, you didn't see any weird graphical glitches?

not realy. laugh new
kraid's room is wierd, like the ship room is wierd. changing the doors messes the graphics up.

do you meen, the crash with in croc's room? that's because there's a Varia suit in that room. it won't link back to the other room right, so i meant to block it, but forgot. Rolling Eyes

has anyone goten to the end?

This sounds both intriguing and scary. I will give this a whirl soon, hopefully this one will not turn out to be Warfare II. At least you informed that there will be some issues and you did not make any elites list for the first post straight away. Maybe it is a little too early to start discussing about speedrunning and times too, let´s first see if this works properly....

...and if you used save-states or not grin new
What about save states? Is it a big merit to finish this hack without?

That cut me deep, lance... that cut me real deep.

On another note, I have learned my lesson, and my new hack is almost done, with me betatesting almost every step of the way.

I too will try this in the morning after a bit of sleep.

with me betatesting almost every step of the way.

What I do is design a few rooms (1-10, depending on how involved the rooms are in the sequence of the game) in the main sequence of the game, then I playtest through the entire game, up til the last point I've changed. Then, after the story/sequenced part is complete, I start working on the side rooms that are out of the way. After finishing those, I playtest the entire hack for 100% items until there is nothing wrong with it, then once more after I believe everything is fixed. The work may be slightly intensive and tedious, but by the end I know about most SBs that are possible, as well as anything that may have a possibility to glitch, and so far, it has been well worth it (Please note this is my new strategy, not one I've used previously). Not to mention, it lets me see if my hack is any fun to play or not.

Also, wouldn't it be alpha-testing?

Sorry if I sounded cruel, but I had to poke you a little because I noticed that you automatically assume that this hack is also a failure after first little bug. Also it was pretty clearly informed that we are dealing with an unfinished project here.

Well enough about that, let´s be friends and alpha-beta-gamma-test this one until we have the boss rush hack of our dreams.

Edit: Well, this one plays nicely all the way through. Aside from a few graphical things, I did not notice anything that would have been straight on the way. Fano already reported the few things that I noticed too. Does it mess up things if you put gray doors so you could not go back where you came from?

I will not give any kind of overhaul on the bosses since you are still developing them. Mostly they were just like in the original. One quick question though: Did you change Ridley´s HP or damage values? He died too quickly with normal charged plasma+wave+ice shots, at least it felt like it....

Have you read other topics to get some ideas for bosses? I think we discussed about bosses for hard boss rush hack in some topic. Of course it never hurts to brainstorm some more.

Oh, and if you are interested, my time on first playthrough was 00:20 and percentage was 27%. Is the maximum 30 or something? I did not find Power Bombs, are they in this hack at all?

I also beat it. There's a bunch of small issues, nowhere as big as Warfare's, but then again you didn't edit it as much ;) Also, has anyone ever gotten a clone on draygon? I had one halth and i shinesparked in midair to let him pick me up, and a speed booster clone was left behind, mimicing every move I did...

edit: oops, the third pic is just me seeing what would result from shinesparking into MB. (insta death)

It was all an accident. First I thought Dark_Echoes had taken your Gravy as a palette to base his hack on. Was rather pissed until I found out that my headerless rom was a patched Gravy.
